Mitch R. Morrissey
Mitch Morrissey served the citizens of Denver for 33 years as a career prosecutor including three terms as the elected District Attorney. As the DA, Mitch aggressively prosecuted criminals and advocated for crime prevention and intervention initiatives such as Drug Court and Juvenile Diversion. He made victims a priority and was dedicated to providing them a strong voice in the justice system.
Mitch is internationally known for his expertise in DNA technology. He spearheaded the Denver Cold Case Project, which reviewed over 4,200 unsolved sexual assaults and murders using DNA technologies. Mitch also developed the Justice Review Project, Colorado’s first prosecutor- led DNA exoneration program. He has trained law enforcement officers and prosecutors throughout the United States, in the Middle East, in Central America, and Canada.
After leaving the Denver District Attorney’s office in 2017, Mitch co-founded United Data Connect, a forensic DNA software company that is a leader in using investigative genetic genealogy to solve Cold Case rapes and murders from as far back as 1963. In 2021, Mitch became a fellow with the Colorado Common Sense Institute. Their in-depth analysis of statistics showing a shocking increase in crime in Colorado has received widespread media attention.
In 2022, Mitch co-authored a book entitled: Denver District Attorney’s Office: A History of Crime in the Mile High City (1869-2021) Available on Amazon Books.
